At Stargazer Vintage Jewelry we offer vintage items, these items have age and history. Excellent condition does not mean mint.
If an item has been used, it will generally have normal signs of wear. A piece of vintage jewelry is old and more fragile than a new one.
Collectors of antique and vintage pieces often accept a few minor flaws in order to obtain qualities lacking in modern items.
The condition of each item is described in the listing and we try our best to be as accurate as possible.
Please view all the photos available for the item, they show more detail than words ever can. The photos are the most important part of our description and should be viewed with that in mind.
All of our items are from a smoke free, no pet home.
Vintage condition is subjective and as such we will never state that an item is in mint condition, even if that is what we think. We use the following definitions to help grade our jewelry.
Excellent - Almost new condition, no noticeable flaws, or only subtle signs of wear, i.e., normal plating wear from laying against clothing or part of the original production process, like some Bakelite carving may be rough. Stones un-chipped and clear, no peeling pearls.
Very Good - Minimal signs of wear or aging. Flaws will be considered normal due to aging, as a darkened stone, or wear on a gold-filled Victorian bracelet dating to 1880. Enamel may have minor chips, verdigris on metal.
Good - Obvious signs of wear and aging and these will be described in the item description. Deterioration in foiling of stones, or minor chips, pearls may have some peeling.
